Tourist Visa & Visit Visa - Japan

A tourist visa for Japan, known as a Temporary Visitor Visa, allows travelers to stay for up to 90 days for purposes such as tourism, visiting friends or relatives, or attending conferences. The application process typically requires a completed application form, a valid passport, a recent photograph, proof of financial stability, a detailed travel itinerary, and a round-trip ticket. In contrast, a visit visa is often intended for those visiting family or friends in Japan and may require additional documentation from the host, such as an invitation letter, a guarantor form, and proof of the host's financial stability. Both visas generally necessitate an interview at the Japanese consulate or embassy. The processing time can vary, so it's recommended to apply well in advance of the intended travel dates.
