Germany Tourist Visa Application Process

A huge rejection rate makes Germany visa application the scariest one. It is possible to get the visa at the first attempt if you have the right knowledge of how the visa process works. Every step must be cleared without errors to fruitfully complete the visa application process. A detailed ready through the Embassy website can help you reach the right information with regards to the process and the documentation. Still feeling nervous! Don’t be. Our intent here is to make your job a bit easier by sharing the stage-wise guidelines to apply for Germany visa.

Stage 1: Look for the official document checklist for Germany visa and amass the paper works from all relevant sources. While gathering the documents make sure not to miss out on any significant points.

Stage 2: Visit the Germany VFS website to book an appointment for document submission and biometrics. Create your account with a User ID and password and enter your personal and passport details. Check out the slots available and book a date as per your convenience at the nearest VFS center. Make sure you have enough gap between the appointment date and your travel. After booking the appointment on your preferred date and time, take a print of the appointment confirmation page and attach it with the rest of the documents.

Stage 3: Next, the focus should be shifted on the visa application form filling that can be downloaded from the Germany VFS website. Complete the form and review the same. The form must be signed and dated by the applicant. There are other auxiliary forms such as authorization, insurance, etc that must be signed and attached along with the main application form.

Stage 4: Draft a detailed covering letter explaining the purpose of your travel to Germany, the entry and exit dates, employment status, a brief highlight on your personal and financial background. The more explanatory cover letter you provide, the better is your chances to convey your background with complete clarity to the visa officer. Take a print of the covering letter and sign on it. Attach the covering letter and the application form along with the rest of the documents you have gathered following the Embassy checklist.

Stage 5: Proceed to submit your documents on the stipulated date according to the appointment. Submit the documents and provide your biometrics at the VFS center. Make the Germany visa fee payment at the center and collect the payment receipt. On the receipt, you will get the application tracking number to know the status of your application throughout the process. If the Embassy has any further query, they may either mention it here or convey it through a formal letter to the Germany visa facilitation center. You can either track the change of status online or receive a call from the center to collect the letter containing the message from the Germany Embassy in India.

Stage 6: On completing the visa processing, the Germany Embassy will dispatch the passport either to the VFS or to the courier address you have mentioned during the submission. You will come to know about your visa status only when you receive the passport.
