Employer Nomination Scheme visa is a permanent residence visa for overseas skilled workers who are nominated by an Australian employer to work in Australia. There are no geographical restrictions within Australia for workers under Subclass 186 visas. It allows you to work in Australia under one of three streams:

Temporary Residence Transition stream- Applicants who have worked with Australian employer on Subclass 457 visa for the last 2 years are eligible to apply under this category.

Direct Entry stream- This category is applicable for people who have been nominated by their employer under the Direct Entry stream, who have never, or concisely, worked in Australia, temporary residents who do not qualify for the Temporary Residence Transition stream.

Agreement stream- The category is meant for applicants sponsored by an employer through a negotiated official labor agreement.

Eligibility Criteria for Employer Nomination Scheme Visa

  • Must be nominated by an approved Australian employer in regional Australia within six months before application

  • Must be below 50 years, if you are applying under the Temporary Residence stream, or are below 45 years, if you are applying under the Direct Entry stream

  • Must have required skills and qualifications for the position you have been nominated for – you must hold any mandatory registration, license or professional membership, or you must already be fully assessed as suitable by the relevant body
